  8.  INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
  9.  --------------------------

  11.  The proposal system does not require any fancy installation.  It will
  12.  run in any directory and is designed to run on a hard drive (although
  13.  it can be run on a floppy disk as well).  Because The Proposal System
  14.  creates Data Files, most people put The Proposal System into its own
  15.  directory.  For instance:  C:\PROPOSAL.  However, this is not required.
  16.  
  17.  One thing you may want to do is read the PACKING.LST file.  It contains
  18.  a list of all files that should be included in The Proposal System.
  19.

  31.  HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
  32.  =====================
  33.  Any IBM compatible (XT/286/386/486/Pentium/etc.)
  34.  EGA/VGA video card (must have at least EGA)
  35.  256K RAM, DOS 3.0 or above
  36.  IBM compatible printer (almost all of them are)
  37.  
  38.  PRINTERS:  Many IBM compatible printers default to ITALICS characters
  39.  instead of GRAPHICS characters.  You need to set your printer to GRAPHICS
  40.  characters to use The Proposal System.
  41.  
  42.  Some printers refer to ITALICS mode as "EPSON" mode and GRAPHICS mode as
  43.  "IBM" mode.  When you print the proposal if you see italics characters
  44.  making up the border, your printer is in italics mode.  Consult your
  45.  printer's documentation for information on switching into graphics mode.

  47.  MOUSE DRIVERS:  Some non-compatible mouse drivers may cause the program
  48.  to lock up or refuse to continue when you enter evaluation mode.  Either
  49.  start up your computer without the mouse driver installed, or get an
  50.  updated mouse driver.  The Proposal System does not use a mouse.

  52.  USING THE PROPOSAL SYSTEM
  53.  =========================

  55.  In just a moment, you will be placed at The Proposal System's main entry
  56.  screen.  At that point, or at any other point inside The Proposal System,
  57.  you can press the <F1> key to bring up the User's Manual Help System.
